I was approached by a lady that gave me a photograph of this house. She told me that her husband used to grow up in this corrugated roofed house in a vary small town. In the photograph is was quite misty and had to improvise to give a shiny feel.
.
The owner of the farm asked me to come visit one day to photograph his windmill in order to paint it. The windmill with a typical round concrete dam and house near by is in a bush veld valley, surrounded, almost engulfed with mountains. The surrounding trees and almost no skyline to be seen, gives a good impression of how it is there. Almost complete silence with only the windmill, wind and birds to be heard.
.
I was asked by a good friend to make a painting of ostriches. At first I thought it was a strange subject to paint, but when I found this picture it inspired me. The subtle sepia colours gives a vary calm feeling that worked well.
.
A couple asked me to make them a painting of something that will remind them of South Africa, since they are moving to Australia. Although not an indigenous flower no one can help to think of a South African gravel country road with the lovely cosmos flowers growing next to it.
.
I was asked to do a head of a zebra for a coming birthday for the owner of a private game farm. There is a calmness to the mare and foal that I liked so decided to use it.

Alpha Toby's Oklahoma. He was once the Appaloosa stallion of the year, but has unfortunately passed away since his painting has been made.
